Presentation

 The Academic Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and Technology is intended to form professionals and teachers qualified for working at College education, capable to develop and propose solutions towards society and environment, as well as producing goods and services.

 Such solutions will be based in the scientific knowledge and social reality interdisciplinarity on themes:

  • biodiversity
  • sensing
  • waste usage and treatment
  • bioenergy
  • health, environment and society
  • applied microbiology.


Objectives

 Consolidate a teaching, research and extension reference nucleus in the Environmental Science field, acting simultaneously and interdisciplinarily as a teacher and researcher forming center, featuring as guiding element, the reflection about educative and investigative practice, permanent source for innovation, focused on environment, technology, and society.


Target audience

 Graduated professionals and students graduated in courses close to Environmental Science and Technology:   Environmental and Sanitary, Chemical, Electrical, Agronomic, Production, Civil Engineering; Bachelors and Associates in Biological and Health Sciences, Chemistry and Physics; Biomedicine; Architecture and Urban Design; Dentistry; Occupational Therapy; Nursing; Pharmacy and Nutrition, and other graduations on the health, education, and environmental areas.


Graduated student's profile

 Qualified teacher/researcher, able to join public or private College Level Institutions, and to develop, according to the existing conditions, research, teaching, extension, and Post-Graduation activities, being capable of:

 Working in researches regarding physical, chemical, and biological monitoring at environmental studies, promoting the development of methods and materials for environmental control, as well as exploring the technological potential of raw materials and agribusiness waste.

 Acquiring, amplifying and applying knowledge about the rational use, handling and preservation of natural resources, subsidizing the biodiversity understanding, ecosystem operation and anthropic impacts onto several types of environments, as a source of contribution for improving communities.

 Understanding the relationship of the chemical and biological environment and its impact over community health; acting in experimental practices and pathogenicity studies of population inserted in epidemiological scenarios in face of different social-environmental problematics, seeking well-being and quality of living.

Graduated in an area similar to Environmental Science Technology.

This concentration area integrates knowledge in Environmental Sciences and it is intended to form teachers and researchers on an interdisciplinary fashion about the following themes:   society, health, biological diversity, technology and environment, by means of its research lines, projects and proposed subjects, promoting innovation and technological and sustainable development.

  • Research Line 1:   Environment and Technology

 Under an interdisciplinary perspective, the projects developed within this research line will consider the physical, chemical, and biological monitoring for environmental impact study; development of methods and materials of environmental control; and technological potential of raw materials and agribusiness wastes.

  • Research Line 2:   Biological diversity and ecology

 Projects developed within this research line are intended to contribute for the decision-making about the rational use, handling and preservation of natural resources, by understanding and expanding knowledge about biodiversity; ecosystem operation; and anthropic impacts onto several environments.

  • Research Line 3:   Health, environment and society

 Studies developed within this research line will contribute for the better understanding of the chemical and biological environment relationship with health by means of toxicological analyses of chemical agents in experimental models; of pathogen marking molecular studies in population; and analyses of epidemiologic scenarios in face of different social-environmental problematics emphasizing the society’s well-being and quality of living.
